Argentus is working with a leading organization in the Oil & Gas sector on a strategic procurement opportunity! This company has built a strong presence within the Canadian energy industry and is known for its collaborative environment and operational excellence. Today, they’ve engaged Argentus to support a search for a 12-month contract Procurement Sourcing Specialist to join their Supply Chain Management team in Calgary.
This role will support sourcing and procurement activities across a variety of operational categories, including drilling, completions, production, and facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in executing sourcing initiatives, leading competitive bid processes, negotiating commercial agreements, and supporting long-term supplier strategies that drive value across the business.
In this role, you’ll manage the end-to-end sourcing process—including RFX development, vendor evaluations, negotiations, contract execution, and supplier performance management. You’ll work closely with operational stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of category requirements, define sourcing strategies, and ensure procurement activities align with business goals, cost targets, and risk management objectives.
The successful candidate will also conduct market analysis related to pricing, lead times, supplier capacity, and broader industry conditions to support informed sourcing decisions. A strong focus on supplier relationship management, process improvement, and cost optimization will be critical, along with the ability to identify opportunities to expand and strengthen the vendor network.
From a commercial perspective, this role will support contract development and negotiation activities, ensuring appropriate risk allocation, acceptable terms and conditions, and alignment with sourcing strategies. You’ll also contribute to contract management activities post-award, including supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
In short, this is an excellent 12-month contract opportunity for a procurement professional with 10+ years of Supply Chain Management experience within the Oil & Gas industry—particularly supporting production, facilities, or operational sourcing categories. Experience with ERP and sourcing platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Ariba will be valuable, along with strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Most importantly, candidates must have strong buying and sourcing experience related to rotors, compressors, piping, and valves, as this category expertise will be essential for success in the role.
