The Client:
Today Argentus is bringing you a truly fantastic supply chain and procurement leadership role. We have been retained by a new manufacturing client (industry confidential for now) with a bold new venture. This company is a renowned leader in their industry, a best-in-class provider with a fantastic history who is pursuing a visionary strategy through a new manufacturing category and facility. Today, they have tasked Argentus with sourcing a Director of Purchasing to build and execute the supply chain for this venture.
The Opportunity:
This greenfield position will work out of the company’s offices in Toronto and/or Mississauga to start as a key member of the company’s leadership team. In this role, the Director of Purchasing will have a mandate to build the procurement function from the ground up, developing the processes, technology and best practices necessary to situate procurement as a key driver of competitive advantage for the organization. You will lead the supply chain from a budgetary standpoint and develop an overall supply chain and procurement strategy, using the company’s purchasing power and strategic supplier relationships to maximize value from the procurement process, driving innovation and minimizing cost. In addition to building the procurement function and organization, you will use strategic sourcing, RFP and supplier management skills to deliver complex, high-value procurement projects in the construction and outfitting of the facility, including manufacturing equipment and automation. Once the facility is complete, the successful candidate will transition to running the supply chain for the manufacturing function—a potentially career-making role for the right individual.
The Ideal Candidate:
As you can see, this is an excellent greenfield opportunity. It’s the chance to build a procurement function from scratch as part of an innovative new business venture, with a strong bonus and compensation structure to match. Our client is looking for individuals who have a wealth of end-to-end procurement and RFP experience, particularly within large CapEx projects and greenfield builds of high value and complexity. Experience leading and building a procurement/supply chain department is a must, including experience with budgetary oversight. A successful track record of developing supply chain strategies and functions from scratch in a manufacturing startup environment is also a significant asset, as is experience working within automated manufacturing.
So if you’re a Manufacturing Supply Chain leader looking to take the next step in your career, and your background fits these requirements, reach out to Argentus today! Send an email with your resume to executivesearch@argentus.com.
