Today, they’ve tapped Argentus to source a Customs Compliance Specialist for their Mississauga, ON location!
This Customs Compliance Specialist will take on primary responsibility for customs documentation generation, collection, organization and maintenance. In this role, the successful candidate will work on a variety of customs modes, including ocean, LTL, FTL and rail. You will work with stakeholders including carriers, trucking companies, freight forwarders, and clients internationally to bolster the overall supply chain from a customs perspective. You will create and maintain process maps and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the customs compliance process, working to continuously improve customs documentation, and audit customs documentation on an ongoing basis to ensure that it is accurate and meets all customs requirements. You will maintain documentation for C-TPAT requirements, and identify and rectify all non-compliance issues. In short, you will be charged with being a subject matter expert for customs within the organization, staying current on all business and regulatory requirements, and communicating any changes (e.g. trade agreement changes, tariff changes) to relevant stakeholders and leadership within the business.
This role is an excellent fit for someone with strong customs experience across all transportation modes, with a good working knowledge of all HS codes and C-TPAT requirements. Strong Excel and analytics skills are also a must, as is a Customs Compliance Specialist (CCS) designation.
