Industry:
Public Sector / Construction / Facilities Services

Argentus is excited to be partnering with a large and complex public sector organization on a search for a Category Manager – Construction Procurement! This organization is undergoing significant procurement modernization and transformation initiatives and is looking to add an experienced procurement leader to support strategic sourcing and category management activities across construction-related categories.

This is a minimum 12-month contract opportunity supporting procurement transformation, category strategy development, and sourcing oversight within a highly collaborative and stakeholder-driven environment.

Supporting the organization’s operations in Toronto, ON, the successful candidate will lead category management activities related to construction services, capital projects, renovations, maintenance programs, engineering services, and related operational categories. You’ll play a key role in developing multi-year sourcing and category strategies designed to drive operational efficiency, vendor performance, compliance, and long-term value creation.

In this role, you’ll oversee complex sourcing initiatives and provide strategic guidance on RFx processes, vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and procurement planning activities. Working closely with internal stakeholders across Facilities, Development, Finance, Legal, and Vendor Management teams, you’ll help align sourcing activities with organizational priorities, public sector procurement frameworks, and broader operational objectives.

The successful candidate will also conduct market analysis, spend reviews, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, total cost of ownership reduction, process improvement, and procurement optimization. This role will involve significant cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement, requiring the ability to build consensus and support procurement transformation initiatives across a large organizational environment.

From a leadership perspective, this role will oversee and support sourcing professionals while ensuring procurement activities remain compliant with applicable procurement policies, governance standards, trade agreements, and approval protocols. Experience navigating complex public sector procurement environments and supporting procurement modernization initiatives will be highly valuable.

In short, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement and category management professional who enjoys strategic sourcing, procurement transformation, stakeholder engagement, and leading complex construction procurement initiatives within a public sector environment.

This opportunity is best suited for candidates with 7+ years of experience in public procurement, strategic sourcing, or construction category management. Strong experience supporting construction-related procurement categories—including capital projects, maintenance programs, engineering services, renovations, and CCDC-based procurement environments—is essential. Familiarity with public sector procurement frameworks and trade agreements such as BPS, CFTA, and CETA is strongly preferred.
